iGuidance 3.0 Crashing after Suspend?

On two occasions now, I've had iGuidance unceremoniously exit after I've suspended and resumed my Axim with it running (by suspend, I mean press the power button as you would normally when you're not using it). It normally happens when I select a menu function after resumption.

All is fine when I restart iGuidance, but I'd rather not have to . . .

GPS software, particularly with BT connections, does NOT like to be shut down that way. It's in communication with the receiver, busy updating location (even if you aren't moving) and then, bang, it's all gone. The software loses the connection, or can't find it when you restart, but it hasn't seen a shutdown signal.

So, don't do that. Close iGuidance before powering off.

You know, that's the weird thing. Until I go into the menu, iGuidance is actually working just fine after a suspend . . . it reestablishes communication with my Globalsat BT-338, the arrow turns green, the map updates to show my current position . . .

But then I go and do something that you would *least* expect to have a problem (like selecting "Shortcuts" in the menu) and poof! Hello Today Screen!

I understand your statement about GPS software not wanting to be suspended in general, but I'll respectfully disagree with you in this case. This is software for a PDA; a device that spends a lot more time suspended than it does active, so any software written for it should damn well better know how to deal with it.

Guess I'll log an incident with iNav/Navteq.

I've seen iguidance 3.0 bomb out a few times unexpectedly as well. not related to standby.

iguidance 2.1.3 would work fine .. only time that bombed on me was driving through a tunnel when the gps lost a signal. then it would exit every time.
