iGV3 does give you the option of using the Axim onscreen qwerty keyboard instead of the iGuidance abc one.

It took me forever to enter the letters, I prefer the QWERTY in Dell GPS, since it takes up less screen room, and is easier to use.
Just tap the keyboard icon on the bottom tray. That opens the querty keyboard.

I`m pretty new to this PDA and GPS stuff. I have a x51v and IG 3. Program and map are installed on the CF-card. Routing is extremly fast, takes a few seconds, and re-routing too. I took seom wrong turns on purpose and ig3 re-routed like nothing.

Really like the setup. What I don`t like about ig3 is, that I can not customize POI.

Hopefully iNav will build customizable POI functionality into their next upgrade. That would certainly be a step in the right direction to elevate the software to the next level.

Yes, I've been doing that. But that causes some GUI issues.

Oh, and I've noticed that if you click on the compass in the corner, it changes from North/heading up. I want to show the current direction and still have heading up.

Oh, and if there are only 3 satelites, the Speed thing in the left corner shows 0 mph, even though I'm moving at like 60 mph. The Speed Alert still works, even though it shows 0 mph. A bug.

I just installed v3.0. I'm very pleased. The outlined roads make a world of difference. I also like how the roads continue up to the horizon in 3D mode now.

I haven't noticed any difference in routing from 2.1.3. Overall, I'm satisfied with this update.

I have the iG3 application and the maps on the same SD card with routing and rerouting being lightning fast. I have four states loaded so maybe it would be slower with a larger map database.

Does IG3 have the 640x480 resolution like the Dell Nav. It seems they are written by the same place. I only see from the feature list that IG3 supports 320 x 240. I am looking to purchase either version. The IG3 seems to be able to load to laptop and be used on laptop as well as pda whereas the Dell won't. THe resolution is a big thing for me as I want the higher resolution.

All maps are around 2.4gb I heard. The bigger the maps, the longer it takes to look up addresses, etc. (obviously). That's why I have separate maps for the 125-mile radius where I mostly drive/live, and another for the whole state, and then another for the region if I ever want to travel to an adjoining state.

I want to buy iG3 but have questions about maps. do you get free map updates along with program updates?

I just want to know if map updates are free or if you have to rebuy the cds again.

FYI, I loaded all maps on a 4G SD card and they are about 2.3G for IG2.1.3. My routing rarely takes more than a few seconds for trips that are hundreds of miles long.

Map updates are rarely free but, depending on when you bought the program and when the updates are available, you might get them for free or at a discount. When IG3 came out in July, anyone purchasing after 12/18/2005 (I think) got a free upgrade.

Except for a few routing quirks, I really like IG2.1.3. I'm still waiting on my IG3 upgrade b/c I ordered the CD version.
