x51V stability compared with other x51?

I hardly see any post about the other x51 (416 / 520) and I see a bit of complaint about x51V. Does it mean that other x51 are rock solid? Or does it mean there are very very few other x51 users. If all (other 416 / 520) x51 users are happy, then there is major issue with that V designation.
I admit I am still a happy foolproof x5 user .
Can other x51 (416 / 520) users voice their view?

Daniel

I have the x51v - so can't comment on the other models. But the complaints with this line aren't really related to the hardware - at least not anything specific to the x51v versus the x51 - it's mostly due to the software - Windows Mobile 5.

The only differences between the models really are the CPU speed and the qVGA/VGA screens (and WiFi and/or Bluetooth) - and I haven't read any complaints specific to those hardware.

I don't know the hard numbers but I'd guess that the majority of non "v" sales is to enterprise, whose users are unlikely to be posting here. The "v" model is the choice of the vast majority of individual buyers, more likely to visit here. I wouldn't be surprised if the "v" model exceeded 70% of all x51 sales.

BTW, I owned a "foolproof" X5 and in it's day as a current model, it was far from foolproof. If you go back through the archives here, you'll find more than enough bitching about nagging issues and evil Dell's inability to fix them to remind you of...here and now. If you've decided on a x51 and price isn't an issue, go for the x51v. Cheaping out will only lead to buyers remorse. VGA is more than worth the additional $$$ and potential additional bug or 2.

The v51 series (low, mid, high) all have the same issues.

Some issues with VGA don't apply to lower models without vga screens. Nor do wifi and bluetooth issues since the lower models do not have them.

Are you saying all 3 models have the same issue with Wm5 even with the 012 update?

I own a 520mhz x51 (w/ BT & wifi) and a lot (if not all the problems are the same- IMHO)

in fact only 3 differences exist between my x51 and a x51v:

1. extra memory (not important to the overall running of the PDA)

2. faster processor (again not important to the overall running of the PDA - except a little faster)

3. inbuilt intel graphics processor (and software specifically written for it (or to be vga aware) rarely has problems )

just my twopenneth

:)
