Adding a new City to the GPS

I'm trying to add a new city to the SD card, I use the navteq software and use the "generate map" button once I select the city and the radius I want. It copies all the info from the CD, then it connects to the handheld. All the info is on the SD card. But, once I try to add an address from that city, the navigation does not recognize the city? How do I get the navigation software to get the info from the SD card?

Thank you!

Do you have maps installed anywhere else on the PPC besides the SD card?

I have the Navteq navigation that I bought from Dell. I did load my home town city onto the Axim and not the SD Card. The navteq software was also loaded onto the Axim and not the SD card.

Uninstall the application, then delete any map folders that are left behind. Reinstall and then re-generate the map and have it put on the card. iGuidance (and all the family of Netropa apps) can see only one map location and the files there must have certain names. The map generator sets the location and names the files, but if you then try to move the maps to another location the engine doesn't find them.

In trying to unistall, it's telling me Cannot delete "DellNavVGA': There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use. What now?

Thank you

Do a soft-reset and then try to remove the program. The reason the program couldn't see the maps on your SD card was because you already had a set of maps in your main PPC.

Before you remove the program, just delete the maps folder on your main memory and then run the program - it might be able to find the maps on your SD card (not sure about Dell, but iGuidance doesn't hardcode the location of maps during map creation).
