GPS Precision Plotting Utility

Where can I find a "GPS Precision Plotting Utility" ?
- so that I may log the location of a spot calculated by averaging several samples.
If possible - freeware, thanks !

You could always use one of the freebie utilities to save a log of raw NMEA data, the use Excel to do the averaging. Also, VisualGPSce (google for it) will do fix averaging, with SD calculations, for you dynamically. But remember, the accuracy of the fix will still be 3-5M with WAAS, tops, unless you invest in something like the Trimble systems that have more accurate clocking to get really accurate fixes.

Thanks for the answer, JakeRich

Looks like GPStuner can do the plotting - but I don't need all the rest - at least for now, so the price is a little high.

Did you look at VisualGPSce? It is free.

Yes sure -
but I think that plotting gives a better impression of the actual uncertainty of the position than the SD value - maybe I just need to get used to it :)

The desktop version of VisualGPS does a plot. And the pda version will create a log for you that can be used to extract the data and do a plot in Excel. (An X-Y graph will show you the dispersion.)

Also. BeelineGPA, from the same developer, does a plot of fixes. BeelineGPS isn't free, however.

There's also BeeLineGPS, which (i think) is just a commercial version of VisualGPSce, but hast some more features (like: plotting...). But it's not free.

GPSMeter PDA can also be used for position averaging. There is a free trial.
