X51v / OnCourse5 & the menu bar blues

I've been using OnCourse5 with my Dell for several months now with no problems. I opened it up the other day and when it gets to the initial screen the program seems to go behind the desktop with the only part of the OC5 showing is at the top of the desktop where the menu bar should be (but isn't).

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Have you checked the amount of free memory you have? When you use the default "close" it still leaves a portion of the program running in the background. Search the forums for discussions on the amount of free memory needed for OCN5 and how to really "close" programs.

Is it installed on a card and do you shut off the PDA right after exiting OCN5?

There is a (fairly) well-known design deficiency where it clobbers its own prefs file (or some other configuration-type file) if you turn the PDA off too soon. The programmers didn't have enough real-world experience to know to close the file *before* exiting.

The fix is to always have a backup copy of prefs.ini.
