Wondering the same thing, I think 4.14 fixed the voice announcements for Maplets, as it started working after I updated. Would be nice if they posted what the updates did, so we can determine if it's worth updating.

"Worth" updating? The update is free, and you don't even have to remove the old program first.

Even if updates are free, sometimes it's better to leave things alone, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". It would be nice if they at least posted what fixes/enhancements were in the latest release. How many times have you installed the latest version of some software only to find out that it introduces more bugs than it's supposed to fix?

GDIO53, you have a good point. But "unanounced" the Mapopolis upgrades are usually pretty safe. If there's a problem, you can easily go back, or just to the Mapopolis forum at gpspassion.com. If anybody has a problem, you'll see it there right away. Not every company is as bad as Microsoft.

Mapopolis has presponded to this complaint several times. They always say the same thing -- they are a small company, should they invest their resources in making the program better or in documenting the fixes. Personally, I don't see where a quick post to their official site is such a big deal, but that's their view. And I have noticed I get great response from their customer service -- even on weekends. I don't think they ever stop working.

Anyway, I'll bet we agree on one thing -- they give a great product for not a lot of money.

Agreed, not everyone is a M$ And I do update all my software whenever there's a patch/upgrade available. Maybe the use of the word "worth" wasn't the best choice.
And yes, Mapapolis has a great product, bought the Holux 270 & Mapopolis v3 after much research (most of it on this site), and upgraded to v4 when it came out, even though it cost an additional $60 to move up.
Product is phenomenal, have purposely taken wrong turns just to test it, and the re-routing is almost instantaneous. Even use it sometime on the way home from the office (20 min. trip normally) just because I have it!

Here is the update information I received regarding update 4.16:

4.16 Fix for routing problem where major roads over/underlay detail roads.

4.15 Here's an updated version (4.15). The main change is a
substantially faster routing process.

Also fixed a bug in the ETA distance display and 8055 SNO error bug.

4.14 (1) added integrity check for possible file corruption (due to, say, removing device from cradle during syncing)

(2) added feature to allow a specific latitude and longitude to be entered to find a location or define a maplet location. This is invoked by tapping Tools > Find > Latitude/Longitude.

(3) Also made a fix so that the cross hairs are always displayed at the tap point when display coordinates is specified (only unless a landmark is selected - then the landmark coordinates are shown).

Cheryl,

Somewhere between 4.01 and 4.14 I discovered something. In the old versions I never had to put a "w" when searching for a "West" street address but now it is required. The same goes for all directions (n, s, e, or w). Was this intentional? It's not a big deal but I kind of liked it the other way.

I think that the earlier post on version data was just copied from an e-mail. To get hold of Mapopolis support you need to e-mail:
support@mapopolis.com

Sorry about that. This was a copy from a reply that I got from support@mapopolis.com. I accidentally copied the entire email by mistake. I was mildly suprised that I got a response in less than 24 hours.

I've emailed them twice for two different quesions. Once it took 'em 10 minutes, and once it took 'em a half hour to reply. Awesome service, I'd say. If they keep that up, they'll have me as a customer forever.
