Destinator 6 is available
The new Destinator 6 is now available in the US.
http://www.destinatortechnologies.ne...functions.html
Some of the interesting features are:
1. US and Canada in 1GB (Good news for people prefers to keep all the map all the time)
2. Send location via SMS* (If you have a PPC phone device)
3. Voice in 20 languages (Didn't see which 20 from Destinator website)
4. 3D view now has street names (Finally!)

The term now available in the US makes it sound like they have maps for other parts of the world, yet they only mention the US. Do they have maps for other places?
Edit: Oops, found the info:
Destinator PN offers Navteq maps of Western Europe, including MRE (Major Routes of Europe), and North America, including Route USA. Please ask your reseller about the availability of additional maps (e.g. Brazil, Australia, etc.). We expect maps of Eastern Europe to be available in late summer/early Autumn 2005.

cool. !Finannly they are making a nice looking UI. I just installed iGuidance 3.0 and it looks UGLY. Why they cannot make eye-candy stuff. why everything is jagged. the pointers looks like made on windows painter program, colors of maps looks ugly like hell.. just messed up. The only one interface worth looking at was Navigon UsA interface. But they support suxed so bad, they closed the US branch.
I hope that the Destinator will set the standart. I will try to test it soon, and post some info.

I also have IG3 and don't see where the screenshots are any better. Are the maps more up to date?

Destinator 6 has been out in Europe for several months now, with full 2006 maps of Eastern and Western Europe.

You are now referring to the old PN, not version 6.
I have been using Destinator 6 on my X50v and one problem is that it is not VGA aware. Even worse, the display is fuzzy in appearance when using a VGA screen, and if you use a VGA hack, the console also becomes distorted.
There also appears to be an annoying lag on the 2D and 3D screens in relation to your actual position when driving. The audio prompts are spot on though. Has anyone else noticed this ??

Thanks Riker. It's too bad the web site makes you hunt for relevant information, and then lets you find the old version :-(
However, the non-VGA is a killer.

Sigh...I'm in the same boat. Besides iGuidance and the now-defunct OCN, does anyone know which other GPS software is VGA-aware without messing with any hacks? I don't want 4x as much info on the screen, I just want what iGuidance does - smoother lines and better looking. Unfortunately, iGuidance has routing problems out the ying-yang in my area, and I've recently confirmed that they haven't gone away in v.3, so I'm going to be in the market for something to replace OCN sometime in the next few months or so.
Thanks,
Gary

TomTom 5.21 seems to be VGA-aware. The icons on the menus arent' as sharp as iGuidance, but the main screen is sharp. I'm sure the upcoming TomTom 6 will be VGA-aware as well.

Destinator 6 - No voice
I recently returned from Europe where the Destinator 6 performed very well in Germany and Austria, but the voice prompts were erratic and finally failed entirely. I could still navigate with the text or symbols, but never could get a voice prompt despite soft resets, etc. Any suggestions?
