You you would need a Bluetooth CF card for your Axim so it could talk to the Bluetooth GPS reciever. If you were using Bluetooth there are no wires.

I'm thinking of getting the TomTom Bluetooth GPS kit but only because I'm getting 50% off the price. Otherwise I think they are a little too expensive ...

I found you can get the CoPilot Bluetooth GPS for $199.00 ... After adding a mapping software like Mapoplois or something else and a PDA mount for your car you'd still be under the cost of the TomTom and be getting a better rated GPS unit that can support extras like WAAS.

Only thing is that you might encounter some fun getting it to all work in harmony all of the time...

Then you'll need a long 'antenna' cable with a serial connector at either end

Although I haven't tried the setup you mention I'd want to see it first before committing any money to it.
Just my 2 cents.

For playing golf, you might consider the old-fashioned CF GPS receiver (something like the Holux 270 from Semons). The power draw for Ax + GPS should be no more than Ax + Bluetooth. You have one unit instead of two. The receiver I mentioned works great without an external antenna -- especially when you are on the golf course instead of in your car. GPS without WAAS gives you position within 10 M. Unless you're in Tiger's category, that should be accurate enough to help your game.

... or, if you haven't bought your Ax yet, you can wait for the X7 with built-in Bluetooth, so you don't need a BT card for your Ax.

Just a thought.
