Poll-Please Vote: Which Navigation software are you using?
I am using OCN5 with my x51v but since Navigon is discontinuing their product (North America) I am thinking about purchasing a new GPS navigation software.
OCN5 has always worked great for me but now I am wondering which software are other people using and if they are happy with it.
My main criteria for a good navigation software are the following:
- accuracy of maps
- user friendly and intuitive interface
- graphics
- technical support
It would be great to get some feedback from actual users.
With any gps software you must use common sense with the gps instructions. With that in mind, tomtom has been wonderful overall. Sometimes I end up in odd places, but then the other 99% of the time I get to where I want to go efficiently. Tomtom has great Points of Interest (POI) and excellent customer service. The interface is intuitive, colorful and easy to use. Jane is a seductress at the helm.

I use three: M$ Streets 2006, DeLorme (DO NOT BUY!! HORRIBLE GPS PROGRAM) and a trial of Mapopolis.
M$ Street is basically useless. The maps are few and incredibly limited and there is no way, shape or form to route a trip.
DeLorme is a nightmare. Horribly slow software. Have to cut your own maps by grid which takes FOREVER!!! Routing is basically unusable from the handheld and there is no on-demand rerouting if you go off track! Missing/absent voice prompts for turns means you have to keep glancing at your PPC to make sure you don't miss a turn = POSSIBLE ACCIDENT HAVING TO KEEP TAKING YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD!! Routing down one-way streets going THE WRONG WAY = ACCIDENTS OR DEATH!! AVOID DELORME LIKE AN STD!!!
Mapopolis is quick with routing and pretty darn accurate (except for the occasional "Unknown street"). IT reroutes you immediately when you wander off course. The voice prompts, although mechanical and "stiff" are accurate and effective. The interface is boring and bland. No 3D view or other snazzy graphics. "Boring Vanilla" but it will get you from Point A to Point B quickly and effectively. :)

The quality of mapping, with regards being up to date, is poor
TT attitude to customers and providing updates, i.e just maps, leaves a lot to be desired.
Regard any purchase of a TT product for a PDA or mobile phone to have a life expectancy of around 18 months. The next update may no longer work on your hardware. The updates are to both software and maps with the later maps not working on older software.
I currently use IG3 but wouldn't consider it Great nor would I say it Sucks. I have also used Mapopolis and thought it was pretty good. The thing I most dislike about IG3 is that you can't display a certain category (e.g. gas stations) on the map at one time; or at least I haven't been able to figure out how to do it. If anyone knows how, please let me know.
i use iG3, im gonna go with not Excellent but NOT AT ALL Bad either. just a few quirks with it, like:
-does not move as fluidly as i would like. kinda choppy movent.
-sometimes leads me on weird routes that definately are more complicated than need be. there are 4 different settings QUICKEST, MAJOR, SHORTEST, LOCAL.(i usually switch between MAJOR/LOCAL settings under routing options. MAJOR routes as if you got directions off of mapquest. LOCAL well uses local roads which can be handy at times, especially rush hour).
-if looking for a POI (point of interest) i know of 2 ways to go about finding it.
1)find within 25miles and then have to look through all of the results according to distance. (i would like to be able to search within 25 miles by name)
2)you can type in the name of POI but if there are multiple locations such as a restaurant you wouldnt know which is the closest one. it gives you all of them by alphabetical order. (wish you could order by distance)
there may be a solution that i dont know of yet when searching for closest POI. if so please enlighten me as it would be very helpful.
i would also love to be able to download a phone directory like program such as a yellow pages or something onto pda and be able to pull up other POI's not in the program. (if you can, please fill me in!)

the +'s definately outweigh the minor -'s
I have contacted IG about this issue, all they need to do is write a moblie plug in that will work with outlook and other programs.
I would suggest others do this as well, contact them and ask them to do this.
It would make IG even more user-friendly and fuctional with this.
