powered mounts
I got the GlobalSat BT-359 a few weeks ago and have been putting my X51v onto the free winshield mount that came with it, and using a 12V-to-120V converter with AC charger. But the set up has too many wires and very inconvienent.

I was wondering if I should invest in a powered mount, and whether I should get one with built-in speaker.

I was looking at the:
i.Trek Powered GPS Ready Cradle Mount
http://semsons.com/ipogpsrecrmo4.html

Seidio G4500S CAR KIT
http://semsons.com/seg4carkitfo2.html

Arkon CM700 Powered GPS Ready Mount
http://www.buygpsnow.com/arkon-cm700...mount-395.html

Which one is the best? Are they worth the extra money?

I have a Seidio G4850 and I love it. It's the same as the G4500, but has the GPS receiver built-in. I did have to put some padding between it and my dash to keep it from shaking, but other than that it's great!

I have the Seido G4500S works great. http://semsons.com/seg4carkitfo2.html

To stop the shaking I just rest the arm on the dash. It doesn't scratch the dash. If you want a rock solid mount you could go with a Ram Mount but that'll cost a bit more and the power supplies in them are noisy and tend to drown out weak FM radio signals (if you use your radio).

The wire count is why I went with SEIDIO G4850 w/ built-in GPS. This way I have 1 wire, power.

what complaints do people have with the arkon one? i really dont have any problems with mine

there's a few cables that hang out but that doesnt bother me. i got retracting cables so they dont take up much space.

nice thing i like about the arkon is its not a dock, its just a power cable that plugs into the axim. i can take it out of the axim and hold it while its still charging.

I did the google thing before my purchase and found a handfull of negative comments. Mostly, they were related to construction. Moving parts seemed to be the biggest issue. Figuring the Seidio uses passive [no moving parts] securment of the PPC, was a more logical decision for me. I'm in NO WAY suggesting the Arkon product is not a "good product".

I use both the G2500 and G4850, and they're both good.

I Recently purchased the OnCourse Bluetooth GPS Edition 2 from BuyGPSNow.com and upgraded the free Arkon vent mount to the Arkon DM320 powered mount with built-in speaker and I am so glad I did because it is really sturdy and the speaker sounds great.
