TomTom 5 & Memorymap exit in the middle of being used - any ideas??

I have an X51v which I use with a Globalsat BT338. I use TomTom v 5 and Memory map with GPS Gate. In both apps sometimes I can find that it suddenly exits and remembers nothing about what it was doing - so on memory map I can have been tracking a route for a few hours and it loses it all! In TomTom it just exits back to the today screen (usually a a critical point in a journey!) I used to use a Globalsat SDIO 501 and it had the same problem.

My Axim is still on A06 ROM and I wondered if this updating this could resolve it, however, I'm nervous of doing this, since in all other ways the PDA is fine and I've read some scare stories about A12 ROM.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do??

Sounds like it is running out of memory. YOu may have something running that is causing a memory leak. If you can, periodically stop the software gracefully, then restart it. That should allow the memory leak to be recovered.

Typical memory leak "causes" are from Today screen plug-ins.

Thanks for the speedy response....

I run pocket breeze and battery pack pro - I take it these could be the cause then?

Is there any more permanent way of handling this, assuming this is the reason for the leaks? Otherwise I'll find myself having to stop the car during journeys to reset!

I seem to remember some discussions about battery pack pro having a memory leak. You might try disabling it and see if the problem goes away. I run pocketbreeze and don't see any major memory leak on my X50v, but I'm not running WM5.

Ok, thanks I've unistalled it for a trial - I'll see how it goes for a bit and see if it crashes out again.

TomTom 5.00 has a memory leak itself on VGA

You need to upgrade tomtom to 5.21. It was memory leak in previos versions when you run it on PDA with VGA screen and WM5.0.

Ok that's good advice -I've had other problems with TomTom on this machine anyway and have been waiting for version 6 to come out so, since TomTom themselves also claim this is compatible with X51v then I think I'll follow this route.

Thanks
