I have been trying to pair the two for over a week now. Tried all kinds of port combinations, read every manual I found, read posts on this forum as well as others, and still nothing works.
Has anyone managed to get the two working? And if so, could you please post a step-by-step guide? Including BT settings, ports - hardware, software, incoming, outgoing...
I do not have any GPS software at the moment and only trying to get the 359 working with the GSPInfo but even that is not working
Can anyone ?
Many thanks

I have the BT-338, which is one generation behind.
I got mine to connect by using COM8, see if that helps.
Thanks for the info. Would you please check all the other settings as well? (such as: hardware port, software port, incoming, outgoing and so on) and let me know?
I chose com8 a few times but something in the combination does not seem to work.
x5x5 I think you and me are having the same problems. When i first got my BT-359 it worked great for about a week. Then one day nothing. I keep getting a "waiting for gps signal" when i try to use iguidence. In the process of trying everything i could think off, I connected my BT-359 to my PC using a dongle plug in. I was able to pair them and i was receiving a signal and a gps lock. However this only worked for about 20 minutes and the signal was lost and i was unable to re-start gps. I did this to see if the problem was an error on my part with the com ports or a receiver malfunction. My next step is to remove the battery for a few hours. According to www.usglobalsat.com (FAQ section for the bt-359) this will reset the NEMA protocal in the receiver. I'll try this tonight and let you know if it works. Meanwhile if you figure it out please let me know how you fixed it. Thanks
Thanks Luckee. MY problem is the pairing itself. I cannot even get them to connect over BT. Can you get them connected but you don't get a fix or you can't even get the PDA and the GPS to pair?
Thanks AximTT, I have already followed the steps in that guide the only problem is that it lacks one of the most important factors - the COM ports...
I already found the solution with some help and I can specify in case anyone has the same problems and needs help.
It fixed my problems... apparently the WM5 BT pairing section that came with my Globalsat 359 instructions were incomplete because they were dealing with step by step for Widcomm BT stack and not Microsoft's WM5 version . I guess I should have looked at the software and documentation on the included CD instead of the quick start instructions.
Just a prospect here w/ a first question:) browsed the stickies and search feature w/ no luck. Well i ended up here and my problem persists i should say.
CUCUNEBUNU: thanks, im getting closer, but anyone with further thoughts on this?? (axim 51v, wm5, blogalsat bt-359)
I tried both ways of connecting mentioned above(w/ and w/out passcode) and am glad to report a small success of seeing that the BT and the Axim are actually connected for the first time (via blinking blue light) however im still not getting any data. I have tried com 7 and 8 w/ no success and have also tested the reciever on my laptop to verify it is working. On the laptop it starts streaming immediately upon starting gps. I have waited 5 minutes for each way i have attempted on the Axim (reading the link from pocketgpsworld makes me believe perhaps i should wait a bit longer) but i was comparing to how fast it connected to laptop thinking 5min would be sufficient.
hitting cold start resulsts in $rspf....OK in the data window. Even though the light indicates a BT connection i just realized the reciever is still turning off after a while (manual says 10 min w/out detecting a bt signal) Also, when you skip the passkey on installation, will a soft reset get rid of the enter passkey window. Mine stays active and I am not allowed to even get to the home screen.
Some GPS software needs to make the connection itself.
The Dell software, for example, will only pair with the receiver by using the "automatically discover" method built into the software.
What software are you using?
From the pocketgpsworld link above....... (mikealder)
Tap "New Partnership" (make sure the GPS is switched on at ths point) from the presented list select the GPS unit it will be listed as BT-GPS-34B76A (or at least the one I have is). with this highlighted press Next (lower right corner of the screen).
When prompted enter the Pass code key 0000 (four zeros) and press Next.
Select the check box for "Serial Port" and press "Finish", note if you are not offered the serial port check box start again from the begining and turn the GPS off/ on - if you wait too long between the steps it doesn't offer the serial port! - the serial port is vital to get communication going.
Assuming you have selected the Serial Port check box de-select the on-screen keyboard (middle of the bottom tool bar) this will reveal the screen tabs at the bottom of the screen, select the Com Ports Tab.
Select "New Outgoing Port", the GPS device should be listed and highlighted, if its not highlighted simply select it. then press "Next"
For the Com port use Com Port 7, leave the secure connection ticked and press "Finish"
when i complete this last step i get the !message! stating "the com port could not be created. please check your settings and try again" i get this message for all com ports that i try, but only when i leave the secure connection box checked.
thanks again and dont misunderstand this for impatience, just providing as much info as possible. besides ive been struggling w/ this for two weeks, i can wait a little longer :)
Thanks BOX. Do you mean mapping/navi software. I will be using TomTom Navigator 6 for roads and Memory-map for offroad. Unfortunately i just read in my searches the tomtom like to overide the memory map, but thats a problem i cant even get to yet. Currently i am testing connectivity by way of GPSinfo only which came with/from globalsat w/ my reciever.
