Icon3 unable to communicate with gps BT reciever

I have axim 51 with Tomtom6 and I am using OC BT reciever. It was working fine until 2 days back. For some reason I am not able to establish communication between two. I tried the whole setup again but no use. I appreciate any help from this forum.

Sleep Desperate for help - gps connection

I have Dell Axim 51v with Tomtom6 navigator and Oncourse BT reciever edition 2. It worked fine for about 1 week and stopped working. I did not do anything different. I installed the mapping software again, restablished BT partnership between my axim and BT reciever, changed gps configuration on Tomtom6, did a soft reset and a hard reset on my axim too. I still have this problem. I am still getting "No valid gps signal" or "No gps device detected" message whenever I open Tomtom6. I think I ran out of all options. Guys please help me out.

Linking x51 (w TomTom Navigator 6) to i-Blue 737 GPS devise

I'm also trying to get a GPS system working on my x51. I've installed tomtom Navigator 6 which seems to be installed correctly, but I can't seem to get the GPS devise linked with the Axim. I've relinked countless times, trying various ways, used different baud rates, com ports, stood outside til I feel like part of the scenery, waiting for a satellite link. I know everything is compatible since a person can buy the two together on Amazon, so concluded I need outside help. I don't know if I should call Microsoft, tomtom, or MTK for help. If anyone here can help, I'd REALLY appreciate it.

When linking via bluetooth, it automatically uses "com 7" and "com 8" to link. While searching around on the PDA, I found:

Native IR:
Com 3:
BT UART on Com 5:
Se???a???a??d??s...
Com 7:
Com 8:

I'm assuming during the linking, I should be using com 3 and 5, but that doesn't seem to make a difference when I delete the GPS icon and relink it. I called a Dell rep who was painfully honest, telling me he knew nothing about GPS so we "can learn together" but since I can link my husband's x51 with mine, I'm thinking the bluetooth program is working correctly, and he instructed me to do the same thing I've been doing multiple times. Still hoping for some help!!!

Did you ever get the gps to link to your x51v thru BT? I have a Garmin Mobile 10 and am having the same problem. The software is installed on an inserted SD card and BT partnership established but can't link with gps.

I have x51v with tomtom5 and the navteq gps wired receiver. It has always worked for me. I had a problem to begin with that I fixed on my Axim X51v.

The problem is due to the corrupted serial driver name in the registry, that is why you see "Se???a?? ?a??d?? st?? COM1: " in Tom Tom GPS menu.

1. Use a registry editor, e.g. PHM Registry Editor v0.70
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities...ryeditor.shtml

2. Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Serial

3. You will see the value name "FriendlyName" has some Russian characters for the value data

4. Change that to Serial Cable on COM1:

5. Make sure you exit registry editor from Tools -> Exit, that will save the changes properly.

6. Now go to Tom Tom and your wired GPS should be working. You may need to do a soft reset if Tom Tom is still not picking up your wired GPS.

Heres what I set my settings to in TT5(should be the same for all us dell wired gps + tt5 users): In TomTom 5 go to Show GPS Status: Select Other NMEA GPS, GPS baud rate:4800, choose Serial Cable on COM1. That should do it. give it a few seconds and it should see the satellites.
That set of steps will fix the Serial Port problem. BT is always on COM7 or COM8, so don't bother with any other port if you are using BT.
