BT322 Bluetooth pairing problem
hi, hope someone can help....i have an axim x50v with a bt338 receiver and tomtom installed. recently my axim's battery ran down including the backup and left me having to reinstall the device [hard reset]. i did this no problems, with the tomtom and gps info software installed agin no visable problems. the thing is now when i try to pair my receiver it goes through the process, asks for the '0000' key and says its done it. [even though it now shows a blue question mark over it in the paired devices and the shortcut icons...i dont remember this being there before?!]
anyway i then try tomtom and it asks me to pair my device, which i have done and it then cant find it when the program continues it is configured as was, com ports 7/8 and 38400 baud rate.
gps info also comes up no device so does gps tuner program.
when i check through the bluetooth manager and connect the device it shows a good signal connection.
can anyone give me any clues...have read some posts and tried clean new installs, taking battery out of gps device etc but nothing working. who should i try to contact re this. gps is the main reson to use my pda so i'm very frustrated. it has worked like a dream for 14 months now and then this!!!
any help or advice would be welcomed....

You mentioned GPSTuner and TomTom. Both cannot be running at the same time and use GPS signals. Make sure GPSTuner is completely stopped before starting TomTom.

Hi, i guess that from the number of views and the lack of responses that this problem is not one that anyone else visiting this forum has had....
i am getting more and more frustrated, especially having spoken to dell and found out it may cost £39 to get a technician to look at this problem, even if they don't manage to fix it.....i may have to bite the bullet as at the moment i cannot use the axim for the purpose it was bought.
i am checking with globalsat to see if they have any recomendations. i cannot see that it is a problem with their unit as the problem only came about since the hard reset.
i will give it a few more days....thanks

I would try doing a hard reset to clean up and go to a bacis registry. then install the gps first and try to pair with BT. If it pairs then use the gps to make sure it works properly, then install everything else.

Tap and hold the icon with the blue question mark. It will then create a circle of dots and open a menu. Tap connect. You should get two green arrows pointing to each other instead of the question mark. Now open your nav software and see if it can find the GPS.

toka_shigazu,
Is it possible that your GPS receiver is not in NMEA mode? Have you tried using GPSInfo and scanned your com ports to see what your GPSr is set to? If you've done this, and GPSInfo is still not able to connect, your GPSr might be in SiRF mode. You can also try using WinFast Navigator to figure this out. Becareful using WinFast Navigator.

thanks...downloaded winfast navigator but no luck...i couldn't get it to connect to the gps device through it. it still lets me connect through bluetooth manager but no flshing green light or data flows. it wouldn't connect through either nmea or sirf no matter what port or baud rate. does this now sound like the device is faulty?

if there is no flickering (look at the small round globe on the bottom application bar) when you had it set to either sirf or nmea at different baud rates, then yes, it would seem like your device is possibly faulty. Saying that, the only other two things I would do is try to pair this BT GPSr with another Axim device and see if another similar Axim will work with it; or try to pair a different BT GPSr (if you can borrow from a friend) to make sure that your current Axim is working normally.

hi, have set up bluetooth on my pc now together with gpsinfo and winfast navigator....my pc will connect with the device [flashing blue led every second]. with winfast it will connect at various baud rates but none will produce any data flow, in either nmea or sirf. gpsinfo just cannot find the device at all. i get the feeling it is an issue with the device.
i am on to globalsat, i have had to get in otuch with their US branch to get a response as their UK contact didn't return emails. US branch have sent a snotty email to taiwan branch telling them to get UK branch to sort this out. Got an email from taiwan branch to say UK reseller will contact but am still waiting....
thanks for the help so far...any other suggestions are welcome, is there any other free software that might let me interrogate the unit to see if it is working?
