How to call a number from Tomtom Navigator 6?
Hi all,
I have a x50v, I see that TT6 has a "Call Number" feature that can be found from the main menu but it is grayed out in my case. What I want to achieve is to get TT6 to call a number (POI number) via Bluetooth to my SonyEricsson phone using the "Call number" feature.
That works fine from Outlook and Pocket Informant (with the Widcomm stack installed). Just wish it could be possible to do that from TT6 while driving my car, it seems to have the capability, but why is "Call number" grayed out and how to make it available?
Thanks all!

SteevO,
Same issue here... I am on the phone with TomTom "specialized" support.... I'll update this post with the solution (if I get one).....
UPDATE:
I just got off the phone with "specialized" support. To give TomTom credit, one of the best tech support calls I've ever been on. The Call Number feature is only available to smart phone or pocket pc phone edition users.... However, there is an alternative.
THE SOLUTION (of sorts):
Select the browse map menu option from the main menu (page 2). Then select the find option, then POI and tap the POI you want. You will then see it on the map along with the phone number.
Hope this helps,

Thanks for the answer Noah. It seems that there is no way to make TT6 work with a BT enabled phone... :-(
As for displaying POI numbers, I already knew that but there is unfortunately no way to dial directly from TT6 on a PocketPC via BT (NOT smartphone). Too bad, that would have been very helpful!
Thanks.

SteevO,
They clam that it's because a PDA can only support one BT device at a time, and if you have a BT GPS, and you dial a number via a BT phone, you'll lose navigation for a few seconds or more. I think they should have left it up to the customer and left the feature there..... Oh well.... I just wish they had fixed the landscape bug.. (which they haven't......). If your wondering what the landscape bug is:
When in landscape mode, the screen updates slowly and "jitters" as you drive..... :(
I hope they fix it in Navigator 7....

As this may all be very true, I do not use the bluetooth for my gps. I use a CF adapter so I can have it either directly connected, or use an extension cable for my windshield. So therefore, my bluetooth is free to dial. I wish I can re-enable it maybe through registry or something. Let me know what you think.

Hi and thanks for your answers!
I've noticed that bug in landscape mode, I thought it was the Axim graphics capabilities that I should blame... good to hear this could be solved with a software update!
I don't believe the BT limitation is the reason. As previously mentioned, you could very well have a GPS receiver in a CF card format rather than bluetooth based... and in fact I have successfully tested that my BT GPS continues to work while I connect and use my BT headset to my Axim. Moreover, sending a phone number to a BT-enabled cellphone takes only a couple of seconds... so I must disagree with their argument. Let's wait and see what TT7 will be capable of!
