Route Sharing from Garmin to ???
Hello there,
For general back ground info heres what I got. x51v running A12. A Teletype GPS unit, along with Teletype GPS software. Not the greatest software but it was the only company at the time that offered both a Road and Aircraft solution. The recievers pretty good though.
Anyway my father-in-law has a Garmin stand alone GPS unit that he programs routes in for cycle rides. He is able to export them to .gpx, .mps, and .txt. Files. My program however from what I can tell use's something different for route files a .dat file extension. And I can't seem to import any of his route's into my program.
On numerous occasions we've wished we could exchange route information, as his unit allows him to create custom routes, and my teletype makes creating custom routes a challenge at the least.
Does anyone know if I could open and use any of the Garmin route files in another GPS PPC software like I-guidence, OnCourse, TomTom? If I can I'd like to stay away from the Garmin solution I'd have to purchase both the program and a reciever which I don't really need. But might just have to bite the bullet and sell my current unit to help finance the Garmin solution.
Thanks for your help...hope I wasn't too confusing. And FYI don't mind an education for those willing to help explain the reasoning behind it.
