I have a window mount bought on EBAY. I dont know the make but is made in Germany.
I have just come back from a 2500 mile tour of France, Italy & Switzerland and the mount stayed put on the window with no problems.

The only problems is the clamp system slowly releases in hot weather. So I had to hold the AXIM in place with a rubber band.

I have had the unit apart and and roughed up the mechanism with a bit of sandpaper (crude I know) but it worked for a while but is now slipping again.

The unit is for an IPAQ, make sure the one you get is for an AXIM as the charging socket gets covered by the bottom lugs on the IPAQ model.

Hope this helps

The only ones on ebay are those vent ones at the moment...

Out of interest... if I had one of these would the vents have to be switched off for air flow...

Can't think hot air blowing on the axim back would be good for it!

Try www.handnav.co.uk

They supply 'Brodit' holders which are designed with each individual car in mind. Not a cheap solution, but I have a holder for my Axim which has been mounted in the car without drilling any holes. I am VERY pleased with the outcome.

regards,

Mark

It's only my opinion, but I would go with the Brodit solution everytime. As Lostrider said in his reply,

Quote:

I have had to make no 'minor alterations' to mine and can adjust with ease depending on glare from the sun. It doesn't obscure any windscreen view and is close to hand to view maps etc with Navigator.

It's your choice :)

Is it the one titled:
Passive Holder,Tilt Swivel for Dell Axim

Does the mounting bracket stick onto your dashboard?

If so... is the glue very strong to withstand the twisting of the unit ie to avoid the sun?

I have found a review at:

http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/brodit.asp

Looks good. My only concern would be getting my CF gps to get a good view through the windscreen. I dont normaly need to attach the active antenna with the windscreen mount but I may have to if it is fittted on the dash. What do you think.

Also the price £45.00 + Considering the speaker volume is so low on the axim, i would have to consider the Arkon multimedia mount. At least I could listen to the cd player as well as the nice lady on my TOM TOM

I have used the tape adapter from my Sony Walkman. Just plug the miniplug into the AXIM headphone socket and the Tape adapter in to the cassette player. But same problem You can't listen to both the Voice commands and music.

And, I only have a CD unit now.

Some makes of car radio have a small socket on the front panel for auxiliary stuff like cd players.

I am sure some one out there must make a small self powered speaker you could clip onto the sunvisor or something.

How have other people solved this problem "Cheaply"?

The Arkon multimedia mount is good, my neighbour has one for his AXIM and it powers the Axim but!!! its a bit big and bulky.

I want something more discreet.

That's why I didn't go for the multimedia mount, as I wanted a discreet solution.

As I have a speaker for my phones car kit, I was wondering if I'd be able to fit a double adapter, so that I could put the sound for both the axim & phone through the same speaker. Anybody know if this is possible?

Am I right in saying the Arkon multimedia doesn't have a speaker built in, and instead uses FM radio sinals to broadcast to the radio?

I think the Siedo does have speakers... Are these mounts any good.
