Holux 270 or Holux270Ultra??

i'm looking into buying a gps CF very soon, I have read a lot of reviews and info on gps on the Dell and have come to decide on the Holux 270.

Now that i have finally made this decision, it turns out that there is a new version, the Ultra and that it would be more precise and have a lower power consumption.

However drawbacks are signs of lag in some way or another (I don't really understand the information on this matter) and it would be better to have the "normal" Holux over the Ultra-version.

Also it seems that in shops where I looked around on the internet for Belgium, even the official www.holux.de (which is German, there does not seem to be a holux.BE) the first "normal" Holux can't be ordered anymore, only the new "improved" Ultra.

Can someone advise me on this pls.

The added sensitivity of the Ultra comes at a speed cost. From most reviews I have seen, the tradeoff isn't worth it. The i-trek, from Semsons, is a "clone" of the GM270, I believe. You can check the specs for both to verify that.

Another good receiver is the Haicom 303 foldable. It's a bit larger than the Holux, but it folds to a smaller package and can be used as a Serial "mouse" GPS as well as a CF GPS. It comes with a cable to attach to the receiver and a PS2 plug on the other end.

So you wouldn't recommend on taking the Ultra? It is more sensitive but this would only mean benefits if you are in a region with really really bad reception or for more professional purposes.

I haven't used it, I've just read reviews. GPSPassion.com has a review you can read. As I recall, the reviewer indicated it was more sensitive but slower. Here is a link to the article. It's not that I wouldn't recommend it, it's that if it costs more, it's probably not worth it for most users.

I had already read that review, the price is no problem, I can buy it for the same price as the normal one, but if it is less in performance ...

from what i've read the "delay" only has to do routing software for driving. if you are using the unit for that mostly i'd say most go with the 270 (non-ultra) if you are in a major city with tall buildings or spend a lot of time in dense foliage the 270U might be better. I have no idea on the spatial accuracy of the 270 Ultra vs the WAAS enabled 270....people say it (270U) is more "accurate" but i have no idea how they reached that conclusion... and JakeRich is right , the GPSpassion page is quite helpful, search their forums too.
