cheapest Cf GPS in the US

my little brother is coming over to the states for 3 weeks to see the sites, so i thought i would make use of him and get him to stock me up on all the stuff we seem to pay over the odds for here in the UK!!!

I want a CF GPS card but am not sure between the Holux 270, which i am pretty keen on, or the Haicom.

Any recommendations, and where in the US is the cheapest place to get this stuff from at the moment?

Not sure if he will get it off the net and have it delivered to our cousins, or just go shopping!!!!

Any help from you guys over there would be appreciated, my missus is having our first baby on thursday, the same day he leaves so i am not particulaly organised on this front yet, i meant to post this last week!!!!

Cheers folks!!!!:D

I have both the Holux and the Haicom and they are both excellent. Not much real difference between them. The Holux doesn't fold like the Haicom, but the Haicom is a bit thicker because of the hinge where it folds and is longer when unfolded. Just a tradeoff. You'll be happy with either one. As for where to buy, I'd search Google, then see who can ship quickly. If your brother is staying with someone, you can have it shipped to that location and he can pick it up there.

Now, focus on the missus...

Did you check out the GLOBALSAT BC-307 GPS? I just read about it and it looks pretty cool and pretty cheap if you buy it right. Here's one link:

Also, check out the review here:

Good luck.

I have a globalsat bc-307 and it has worked flawlessly for the past 6 weeks. Great value, bought of e-bay.

I also bought the Globalsat off E-bay. No hesitation to recommend - great product. Paid on a Tuesday, received Friday.

am I correct in assuming that you also need mapping software in addition to this receiver?

Yes, you need additional software to use it. While there are many out there, I've had recent experience with Mapopolis (www.mapopolis.com). You can download their stuff for free on a trial basis, and it works great on my Axim.
