Has anyone seen the $10 exchange upgrade?
It was within the link provided by the email they sent.
Now it seems to have vanished.
I have been waiting for them to update us on that offer.
My purchase fall well within the time frame.
Here's the link where you can find out about the $10 exchange upgrade:
You must send $10 to iNav (either through their online store or through PayPal)
The $10 upgrade offer expires on August 6 2007. All requests MUST be received by iNav on or before this date. NO EXCEPTION.
So, I am looking for some input from users who have installed the update.....
Do you absolutely have to install the entire map for all the states?
If you have to install the entire map, is there any way to delete what you don't want?
Other than updated maps, what else is new/different?
Thanks,
julie

I get an error on my PPC, Axim X51" text to speech files not found" and cannot find Map Data files" i copied the maps file to my sd card and put in a folder named, iNav iGuidance\maps. So far it works on laptop just can't get anything on my Axim X51 to work.
This is totally unbelieveable. SUPPOSEDLY, iGuidance removed the maploader to simplify the installation process.
But apparently, the new installation program doesn't even install the maps or the TTS files to the PDA - you have to do that manually.
I've always favored iGuidance over other eye-candy GPS programs, but it looks like version 4 is a disappointment. It has a bigger POI database, but no way to search the database except through their predefined categories - and there's no guarantee what you're looking for will be in that category. Now I have yet to see it in action, but I'm not going to even consider it since they left the maploader out of this latest version. I hate wasting space on my memory cards with useless stuff I would never use - like the other 49 states and the other territories.
I hope iNav is reading the forums here and at gospassion so they can get their act together and release a 4.1 with a maploder and the missing .bin file as well as an installation program that will actually install the program/maps/voice files correctly.
Thanks. I'm leaving on a trip tomorrow for 10 days and really wanted to have the contact look up feature. iNav still hasn't fixed the registration process so we can get access to the support download area.
True enough. Has anyone been successful with registering this product? When I emailed them they said that by 7/21 things would be fixed and you could simply log in as a previous registered user and combine the new software. Not only can you not do this, but if you try to create a new account it gives you an invalid serial. This is nice enough software, but their support is really substandard.

Julie,
Yes, you have to install the entire map set at once. There is no map loader. You will need at least a 2 gig card to accomplish this, but with 4 gig cards at $40 or less it's not a big deal. You will have seamless maps of the US & Canada (plus Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands). It's nice, especially since it took so long to generate a map like this in the old version. A very nice feature added is the expanded voice guidance. It now speaks EVERY street name or route number, not just the interstates. On a trip through the mountains of North Carolina on some very poorly marked roads this was very helpful. This software is now identical to the software installed in the stand-alone GPS unit they sell (very nice SIRF3 unit I may add, have 2 friends that bought it). My only concern is that it seems to take much longer to re-route than v3, but that may be fixed in the registry as has been done with previous versions. Overall, I'm very happy with this new release and would recommend it.

Ivan, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, having to dedicate a 2 GB card to my navigation software is a big deal. I have an hw6925, which only has one storage card slot (mini-SD) and there are no 4 GB mini-SD cards that work reliably with this device ...the only one that I am aware of is a card made by TOPRAM, but what I've heard about that card is that it starts out working fine, but within weeks the data on the card becomes corrupted, and eventually the card becomes completely corrupted and useless.
I will probably go ahead and get the upgrade (I bought v3 only a few months ago, so I will get a free upgrade by paying $10 shipping) and see if I can figure something out.
Thanks again for letting me know.

That could be a problem. The exact size (from the installed maps and text to speech on the hard drive) is 1.29 GB (1,389,342,720 bytes). Doesn't leave much space for anything else. Is the problem that many cards are SDHC that don't work properly (as with the regular SD cards)? I didn't know that they had problems with the HP's and 4 gig cards. Here's a link to a NON-SDHC series that people have used successfully in MP3 players that don't use SDHC (don't know about hP handhelds) as they follow the original SD spec.: Industry Standard 4GB miniSD Secure Digital - Price Drop

Exactly! I have two 2GB mini-SD cards, so I thought about using one just for the navigation application and the other for everything else. But what a hassle it will be trading out SD cards all the time - and I'll probably wind up misplacing one of them after a while......

The TOPRAM card is a regular SD card (not SDHC), and is the only 4gb mini-SD card I've found, and the only mini-SD card I seen other hw6900 users discussing in the various Pocket PC forums I frequent.

Thanks for the link. I took at look at it....are these generic, no name SD cards? Maybe I'll try one and see how it works in the hw6925. I'll let you know.
Thanks,

That's the latest reply I received as well. Note that they don't want to burden us with checking back, but they will burden users by not giving them access to the files that fix a bug in the software they just purchased and will crash the program any time they try to use a contact to navigate. Thank heaven that the missing file is available from V3 (if one had it) and from BuyGPSnow's site. I really like their software, but their support really is lacking.

I emailed I Nav Support Tuesday night and got a response back from them on Wednesday morning concerning the problem I was having getting version 4 to work on my laptop. Every time I have contacted them with a question/problem they have been excellent in responding. I don't think you can knock their support just because they have not been able to furnish an instant solution to the problem. I am not a software expert but I am sure it takes time to solve the problem and make sure it is solved before they furnish the answer to us. I am willing to give them some grace concerning this problem.
Wait I'm confused. iGuidance just requires 1.3GB it can be SD or CF. I think your confusing it with OCN6 which ships on a dedicated 2GB SD card and will only run from that SD card. Iguidance be installed where you have the space. Albeit it doesn't allow you to load individual states anymore or at the very least regions.
So if I have a 1 GB SD card and a 1 GB CF card, can I split the data on the two cards? Otherwise, I'd have to buy a 2 GB card.
Previously, iGuidance had state-by-state maps. Now it does not. The maps have been combined into one file, with all of the states included. No choice, no options. The file size is now 1.3 Gb. You cannot split it, you cannot shrink it. It is what it is.
