Axim to Etrex cable (powered, Bulk buy???)

I know a number members here have Garmin Etrex, and there are also a large number of people that have Dell Axim’s (why else would we be here? :-) as well, but has anyone connected the two together with a cable that provides power to both units? I have found a cable that allows them to communicate as well as have power when in a vehicle, but have not heard any reviews about it (how well does it work etc) If you all have any information, or are interested in possibly doing a bulk buy (lets see if we can get a better discount than retail) then let me know.

I am attaching a link to 2 places that sell the cable I am referring to (if you know of others that also have DC power for both Axim and Etrex let me know) Thanks

You provided the wrong link to the gpscity site. The Garmin eTrex uses a straight connector and not the round connector. You want the cable at http://www.gpscity.com/gps/brados/30...aximx5cig.html

I have been able to get great deal on the cables. If I can get at least 12 people (12-24) the cable can be had for $36. Over 24 the price only gets better. Notice this is almost around the price of the cables to connect the Axim to Garmin but it also includes a powercord to power both the Axim and GPS! So is anyone interested? I have a few takers from other places...

Does this cable support downloading waypoints to the Etrex and uploading trackpoints to the Axim? I bought a cable from pc-mobile that works fine for NEMA-OUT, but won't do the garmin modes.

Unfortunately I'm out of the market for a better cable, because I lost my Garmen Etrex Summit on a mountian bike trip . I think it flew off during a downhill section over heavy washboard. I'm looking at the Geko 301 as a replacement.

For $36 I'm all over it! How does it work? I remember similar deals where somebody had to act as the middleman and re-ship to all the participants. Not quite as attractive.

I have confirmation from the cable manufacture that the cable is bi-directional. So power for both devices as well as bi-directional communication. The bulk buy would consist of a middle man (me) and then sent to other users who buy. I am not looking at making a profit, as all I want is a good deal as well, and want to pass it on. Unfortunately it does not look like they will ship to multiple locations, so that is why I would have to ship them out. There may be some shipping cost (I do not expect much since they are pretty small. and will ship whatever method you prefer. I will let you know pricing for multiple as well (If you can not tell I am a researcher looking for the best price on stuff)

Send me an e-mail at hollapm@yahoo.com if you are interested so I can keep the list organized. That way I can also keep you informed with status etc.

This cable just came to market (about a week ago) so it may not have been tested. I have not tried this cable out, hence why I am looking at buying one, but I have confirmation from 2 sources that it is bi-directional, and both are in writting from the sellers:-) Papertrails are nice... So it looks like the bi-directioal cables are coming to market... The cable is about $36 and also includes power, so it could be the best bang for the buck out there (normally 59)

Almost 3/4ths of the way to the $36 dollar goal (and 14 people away from the $32 goal (stretch, but it could be possible :-). If I have not responded to you with a reply e-mail, then I do not your request. My E-mail was down for a period of time yesterday so I wanted to send out a note to let everyone know.
I can be reached at hollapm@yahoo.com. If you have any questions about the cable, let me know and I will try my best to explain about it. Thanks for everyone who has responded.
