Iguidance 4.0 cmon guys is that all?

I have been waiting for the new version of Iguidance to come out for a while and got a look at it a few days ago. Even though I am an iguidance fan, I am horribly disappointed with this "new release". its been over a year since the last version and the most significant increase is the mis-matched voice synthesizer addon? I understand they need to make money off map updates, but at best this version should have been v3.5 upgrade, not a full release. To make matters worse there isn't an option to turn this piece of crap feature off without hacking the registry. I find it hard to believe with all the talks on the forums that this is what the guys inavcorp have decided to focus their efforts on. Get with the program before your customers buy your competition in droves.

One more thing.... Doe the term QA process ring a bell? Missing files which were patched on a forum before the company could respond. that is just sad.

I tend to agree - not much improvement over IG3. I don't plan to upgrade unless it's to OCN6. Overall IG3 is pretty good but compared to OCN6 and the Nuvi's, it's severely outdated... IG4 is no better.

On that note, have you tried something as simple as registering software that you purchased from them directly? If so, you'll see the message "Please note that we are in the process of implementing new online registration system. All new v4 customers will not be able to register at this time. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience."

And to think, I was given several confirmed dates that this would be working, as early as August 4 to the last date which was August 8. I've given up as it's still unavailable, and can't believe that they haven't gotten this straightened out and released a patched version on their site with the missing files. Good thing I had V3 already so I could provide my own technical support. I know I should give people time to get things together, but a computer software company that can't get their registration site together (and no updates without registration) makes me question their commitment.

Yeah, I was a big fan of iGuidance, especially for the NavTeq maps, and the voice guidance. But version 4 sounds like a huge disappointment. I don't care for eye-candy as much, but I do care for speed and space. So not having a maploader to create at least a state map is a HUGE negative. One huge US map will take up more space and increase search times significantly - and not having a global search function for the POI's is idiotic. And of course, releasing a defective installation program with a missing file is pathetic.

I hope they're reading these forums and learn from their mistakes and release an updated version with a maploder or at the very least individual state maps on the DVD.

Ditto. I heard terrifiable story about IG4, and now I have it. Yeah, it sucks a big time. Loading is slower, and no interface/function improvement at all.

Now I completely switch to Miomap, which allows customization of its interface. It has been fun to tweak the look to fit your own need.

This is the company which will be left out in the competition. However IG seems to be the only major player for PC and UMPC market.
