TomTom tries to install itself everytime SD Card is inserted!

This has been going on for awhile now but recently it has been annoying when trying to do a simple task. Everytime I reinsert my SD Card where TomTom is installed or when I soft-reset, exchange batteries, etc--TomTom tries to perform an installation. It halts after finding a previous installation and asks if you want to reinstall or cancel.

Everyone with TomTom 6 on WM5 experience this? Palm users get this issue but there's a program available for the Palm that stops auto launching of programs on memory cards. TomTom support has nothing that I can find on this issue.

If you have a fix or have the same thing happen to your device, please post so that atleast I know I'm not crazy.

Delete or rename "2577" folder from the root of the memory card and your issue will be solved.

Thanks, but tried that. Got rid of any autorun and renamed folder 2577 but when you launch TomTom, it gives you "MAP NOT FOUND".

In the 2577 folder, you might have several "autorun.exe"-files.
Try removing the one called "autorun.exe-install" if it's present.

Hi,

I'm experiencing a similar problem to you mphayvanh. The only difference is that TomTom randomly starts up rather than trying to install itself.

Touching anything in the 2577 folder produces the "No Maps Found" message.

I have a feeling that mine might be starting up randomly because of the well documented "disappearing SD/CF Card" problem caused by Activesync. I'm assuming that when the card 'vanishes' and then 're-appears' the Axim behaves as if I've taken the card out and re-inserted it, thus starting TomTom. I'm hoping I've fixed this using the hack described here.

However, to be on the safe side, I would like to find a way to stop TomTom automatically running when I remove/re-insert the SD card anyway, because it's still a pain even without the Activesync problems.

I'd be interested to know if you have any luck with this.

All the best
Jon
