I just got the 2006 version of Dell's GPS Navigation system and installed it on my Axim 50v. I can't get it to make maps of more than a state or two. I am making them straight to my Hard Drive, so storage space is not the problem, but anything over about 100meg and it gets into a loop on file 12.
The only way to get out of it is to use cntl-alt-delete, and end the program from there. When I do that it says the program was waiting for a response from me, but there was never a window or a question. I tired changing CDs when it seemed to get stuck, but that didn't do any good either. I have made maps that required different disks, so all the CDs seem to be ok, but I am at a loss.
I have the map I need for a trip we are taking next week, but I like having one big map rather than a bunch of small ones.

Anyone else have this problem? I have tried both the Navteq and Dell websites, but have not found anything that fixes my problem.

How do you know it was in a loop? As I recall, not all of the files it generates are the same size and the bigger ones can take a very long time to generate? Did you get an error message, or any sign? Perhaps you ended the process too soon.

THe last time I tired it I left it running for about 16 hours. With the old version it took about 90 minutes to make the biggest map I ever tried (about 1/2 the US). This one was 5 states.
Two states took less than 1 hour when I made the map I am using now.

Ok, 16 hours is excessive! All I can think of is to reinstall.
