gps options for x51v

I just bought the pda and I am looking for options for gps navigations. I want a wired connection from the receiver to the pda and I want an SiRF star III chipset. I saw tomtom navigator 6 and pharos pt 250 as options, but they are both bluetooth receivers. Would buying all parts separately be worth it?

You should check out buyGPSnow.com and look for bundles of serial receivers with software. In addition to the receiver and software, you'll want to get a mount to hold it all in place in the car.

Not sure this meets your specs but if you're considering used I saw this one posted recently.

Another option instead of a wired receiver is a CF or SD slot GPS receiver. The GlobalSat BC-337 receiver is a SiRF Star III receiver that plugs into the CF slot on your X51v. The benefit of a wired receiver without the wire!

Now, my question: why don't you want a BT receiver? Are you worried about losing connection? Concerned about BT security? something else? Maybe if you share why you want to avoid BT, we can change your mind, alleviate your concerns, or confirm that you're on the right track.

I use a BT-309 and IG3 with my X51v and it works great. From a functioning standpoint, I would not worry about BT - it works very, very well. Going wireless is definitely the way to go. Perhaps you have other reasons for not wanting BT.

As for IG3, it works well but it's routing is not perfect, but then again, probably none of them are. If I were buying today, I would seriously consider OCN6 - it has recevied very good reviews. And, like Jake said, you'll defintely need a mount. I suggest gettting a powered one - comes in very handy, even when not using the GPS. Buygpsnow.com usually has some nice packages including software, receiver and mount and their customer service is very good.

To add to chocophile's response, what do you want to do with the receiver? Sounds like driving navigation. So you do outdoors stuff? Fish? Hunt? Hike?
Consider other uses as well. If you like to engage in outdoor activities, for example and want to use the GPS for logging or orienteering, the wired model might be a nuisance.

Having used a bluetooth Holux 236 for a while I'm glad I went bluetooth and wouldn't go otherwise. I actually went BACKWARDS. I bought it for fishing and ended up with it in the car for driving.

Consider your uses and POTENTIAL or POSSIBLE uses you may have. I was kicking my self in the butt for not getting a logging model.

Anyway, I ramble again.. :D
