iGuidance 4.0 loses GPS lock all the time!
my iGuidance 4 intermittantly freezes and loses GPS location when i set a destination point...
it can happen 2x a minute or even up to 10x. it's very sporadic.
i've noticed tho that if i did not set a destination point, the gps lock works perfect.
i know that this is specific to iG 4.0 b/c tomtom works fine.
anyone else experience this?

Given that iGuidance doesn't actually compute the location fix, I presume you mean that iGuidance loses connection to the GPS receiver (which does compute the location). Typically that is a symptom of shortage of memory. You didn't say which of your PDAs is having the problem, so if you can provide that information, plus the memory you have when starting, the size of the maps you are opening and any other information to help the readers do some diagnostics, perhaps we can help you. I will say that I don't have that problem on my X50v with a map that covers Md, DD, VA, NC and SC in it.

iG4 does require more memory because of the TTS function. Try freeing up memory before you launch iG4 to see if that helps.

I had the same problem, too. My solution was to get TomTom.
BTW, do you run Dell's (A12) ROM, or a hacked ROM ? I started having problems with v3.0.1 when I updated to an unofficial ROM based on WM5 ACU3.5.2, I had to roll iGuidance back to v3.0. However v4 has the same problem that you describe, where after a while (15-20 min of work) it starts losing GPS.
It's most definitely not the memory issue, at least not the start-up memory, I have over 20mb free when I start it. I also tried switching my receiver between SIRF and NMEA protocols, didn't seem to do much difference.
Anyway, I suggest you look at TomTom. Their maps and routing are decent (I'd say iGuidance 3 was a bit better in some places, not sure about 4 as I didn't get a chance to use it). However the ease of use and dependability is great.

iGuidance slowly eats into the memory until it has what it needs. That's why it can start, then run out later when it doesn't have sufficient space. 20 mb is not sufficient to start with. You'll need more like 25-28mb, then it should run well.

What type of GPS are you using? I have a bluetooth and had the same experience. I never lost sat. signals then one day I couldnt get and keep a lock, reset would work for a short time. I finally put on the Sat screen and could watch the sat's disappear, then one would reappear for a short time then gone again. Turns out it was my wireless FM transmitter (I listen to audio books at the same time from my axim) if I turned off the FM transmitter the sats would come bouncing back, turn it on they would slowly disappear. I moved the GPS reciever about 2' from the FM transmitter and all was good.
Have you tried using your setup away from your vehicle?
