Question GPS for Asian adventure

I tried posting this in the software forum, but I guess it has a better chance of getting a response here.

I live in Japan and am planning a trip through Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos in Feb.
I would like to take my Axim x51v and use GPS, but I have no idea what hardware/software would be ideal for this
Can anyone recommend the best gear/ware for finding my way around in these locales?

Also, I may be away from regular power supplies so, any recommendations for solar battery chargers?

TIA for any suggestions.

Have you looked at MapKing?

Mapking Quick Guide

As for receivers, take a look at the Reviews section for an idea. Since your device has BT, you might consider a receiver that has BT.

Thanks for the suggestions, gigi
Unfortunately, it seems like Mapking doesnt have maps for the areas I am heading. I have been looking at a raster based solution that allows you to import your own maps like GPS Tuner. Any thoughts on that?

As for BT, that is certainly what I have in mind. Holux has some newer models that look interesting like the M1000 and M1200. Anyone have any experience with those?

Take a look at the VITO maps:

Pocket PC GPS Navigation software, mobile maps for travelling

I have no experience with this software so you would have to do some more research about how it actually works and whether it does what you want.

This site looks interesting as well:
