Streets and Trips came today

So now I have the global sat 359 and streets and trips 2006 and my hp 4705. It loaded it and turned everything on and went for a drive around the neighborhood and I liked it. I will probably like memory map navigator better...because I actually like the orienteering aspects of things and I like having the whole speed, altitude, direction read out, eta, information on the screen.
The turn by turn direction voice, which I havent figured out how to use yet, will be a good thing, especially for my wife, however.

Now my million dollar question is... can I load a streets and trips 2008 map into the 2006 ppc program? Do any of the more driving oriented programs provide all the orienteering information that a good stand alone reciever does?

I believe you can load a 2006 map into 2008 software (it will convert), but not a 2008 map into 2006 software.

I am having a banner day! I can use 2007 maps! I can get 2008 from Costco for $30. I may get it on G.P. General Principle- better to have and not want than to want and not have.
