Could you help me identify this device, please

Hi,

I bought this together with an X51v off Ebay. It is a mouse-type GPS with PS2 type connector on it, which joins in the PS2 female connector of the cigar-lighter connector that powers both the Axim and the GPS.

Could somebody direct me to some more detailed information about it, please

Regards,
Csanad

Does it have a brand or model number on it?

No. Nothing, apart from the writing on the cigar-lighter plug, that you can read on the photo. The bottom of the GPS part says Made in Taiwan and a few meaningless words, but nothing like a model number or anything.

Cheers,
Csanad

Well, what do you really want to know about it?
It's a GPS receiver that will connect to your Axim.
If you have GPS software then it should work.
If you connect to it you may be able to find out the details that way.
If you have no gps software then you will need to install some.
If it came with the axim I assume the person you bought it from was using it.

Maybe contacting the person you bought it from would be a good start. He may be able to point you to the right direction.

With due respect: I went through all the obvious steps before asking for help and posting my question here. It is a GPS device that when I connect to my Axim actually works with my SatNav software. My seller can't find the documentation.

What I would like to know is make and model number, to figure out what sort of chipset it is operating. I thought this thing might look familiar to someone.

Then I would send your picture in a PM to JakeRich as he is the GPS expert around here. He may have seen it before.

Sorry Frenchy, I kind of figured the pic was so bad, anything would be better but try removing everything around it, use better light and show several angles. I tried a google search using "gps ps2 axim" with no luck. I found a few that were close so a little more effort in a Google search might get an answer.

I knew what you were getting at but wanted you to specify it just in case you had seen it and wanted to view a specific angle. Personally I would be curious to see the back for the connectors positions and under it to see how it is.

It's probably a re-branded model that you'll find hard to identify. Without some markings on it, there is almost no way to tell what's inside. The charger is absolutely generic, so that's no help. I looked at Haicom, Holux and GlobalSat, but none of them have a model in a case like that one.

On the other hand, if it works, just use it and enjoy it!

I blew up the pic and that's the standard Dell power only plug
for the Axim as I have the identical one, therefore I assume it's
a bluetooth gps rcvr and it looks like a Deluo gps lite model which
has a ps2 type connecter.

Deluo GPS Lite for Laptop & PDA (Serial, USB or PDA)*-*Deluo Electronics

Not a 100% sure but that's my guess.
They also sell that cigar lighter adapter.

Not Bluetooth, just serial, which is why the cables and such. It could be from the same manufacturer as the Deluo model, given the circle on the square case. But again, without any markings, it is still a guess.

Definitely not BT, though.

Well I guess as some pointed out the photo is not laid out the
best, but I know for a fact that the plug for pda is power only.
There must be more to that setup.
