The last capture you posted tells me what the problem is. Those GPS sentences look different than what the program uses and that's probably what's causing the crash. Instead of hitting the GPS ON button, which is causing the crash. Can you hit the No Parse button? This should grab a few GPS sentences and display them on the top window. Then tap-hold on that top window and do a Select All and Copy. That will put all the GPS data on the clipboard. Then paste it on an email (do 2 or 3) and send it to me here or to support@trickertracker.com. This will be very useful. I appreciate your help with this.

Bigtsr, the capture which shows the $PSRFTXT command tells me your device is sending proprietary SiRF chipset commands. I had not yet tested on SiRF GPS devices but that by itself is not causing the errors since the algorithm is ignoring those GPS commands. By doing a Select All on that window and sending the text (rather than the screen capture), it may show more detail about the problem. I do have one other thought. The SiRF chipset has 2 modes of operation - NMEA (which this application uses), and binary (which would not work and would definitely cause the application to crash). Does any of the other GPS software that came with the HTC allow you to change this mode? Or maybe that other software is changing the mode upon startup.

Thanks. Wouldn't want to get in the way of important family stuff. Before you try again, check the site for the latest software. By Friday, I hope to have version 0.88 posted which will have better exception error handling. Worst case scenario should be a Parse Error counter increase instead of the exception error window you are getting. Best case scenario would be occasional parse errors counted with otherwise functional results.

I don't use a bluetooth GPS (well, I haven't tested it with one yet).

I have used my CF GPS card (Globalsat BC-337) so far, the scan picked it up and immediately started working with it.

This is on LennySH's WM6.1 release by the way ;)

I suspect your e-mail got caught in my spam trap, so I'll dig it out tonight :)

Hi David
Well this am got up early picked up your .88 from site and while waiting at
the train station I jumped on a wifi hot spot and fired it up.
It works flawlessly on the HTC Advantage 7501 now standalone using
the internal gps on Com 5@4800 and when I arrived home for lunch
checked your site and see that it is forwarding data.
So that's 2 out of 2 the Ax51v and the 7501.
Will be interesting to follow your updates and add ons, thanks for hanging in
there while I sorted out my end.
Wes

Great to hear that! Let me know if you have any other observations/problems. Your software probably will register Parse Errors but it's quite possible that it will continue to be transparent to you (other than the counter I put in which is for diagnose purposes only). I will keep adding enhancements and updates to the software to make sure it's compatible across platforms. Also, there should be web updates soon as well including more coordinates viewable at once on the map and direct access to specific coordinates.

DJUnreal, hopefully you won't have any problems. I have actually tried Compact Flash and Bluetooth GPS and it shouldn't make a difference other than just appearing on a different port. But the slight variations in the GPS commands is an unkown so let me know how it goes and the brand of BT GPS (or if it's the same one with a BT sleeve/adaptor). Also I did find that the CF GPS are a little slower to enable themselves and due to this the Scan button won't always find the GPS with Compact Flash. I think the Scan is a little more reliable with BT as long as the BT Serial Port service is enabled or gets enabled by Windows during the scan.

Excellent JimMaestro. I have been curious about the port rates. Right now, when you hit the scan, it will look through all the ports with the current setting, but it won't adjust the port rate (you can change it manually). I have a couple of scenarios where the port rate setting does not seem to affect anything; i.e. Windows seems to change the port rate to match the software. Did yours work with the default 4800? It seems to be the most popular so for now it's probably ok if I leave it like that. Besides, after using Scan button, you can always just use the GPS On button to turn on immediately with current settings. Current version is 0.89 which is practically the same as 0.88 which worked on bigtsr's HTC with improvements in diagnostics output.

I didn't use the Scan but just set the Port (I'm using Port 6 via GPS Gate), the rate (4800) and turned the GPS button on. Just tried again using the Scan button and the correct Port was found and the rate stayed at 4800. I'm using the Broadcomm Bluetooth Stack if that helps anyone else - it works fine with WM6.1.

Thanks for the info JimMaestro. I believe the application is running well now. I will surely be improving ease-of-use aspects of the software even though I think that it's not too bad now. If anyone else has problems using it please let me know.
