I purchased a Holux CF Gr-271 gps receiver for my X5 (and now my Ipaq 210).

I used my X5 for road navigation using TomTom (an older version) and geocaching (beeline).

The Gr271 works awesome on the X5 (in my opionion)
Here is the Mfr link.
HOLUX - The Pro Name in GPS

There are other CF receivers I believe that also have slots for an SD card. That migt be soenthng to look at too. try buygpsnow.com.

Microsurf Streets & Trips 2006 had a GPS included with an antenna made by Pharos. If you go to the Pharos GPS - Global Positioning System - Navigation Products for Pocket PC and other PDA platforms - HP HP iPAQ, Jornada, Toshiba, Casio - Hardware and Software site, you can purchase the CF slot adaptor which will work with this GPS. Streets & Trips (prior to the 2008 version) came with "Pocket Streets" which downloads to and runs on the Axim. You also need to download the Pharos ARM_GPSJS.exe software and run it on the Axim x5. S&T maps can be exported to the Axim and they include your Pushpins as well. Sometimes Pocket Streets has trouble finding the GPS, but the Pharos software makes it work so much better.

I use a Holux GR-271 CF GPS Card with TomTom Navigator 6 (there is link to TomTom which takes you to a version after you have purchased the license to address specific requirements for Dell 5X Pocket PCs). By the way, you're covered for TomTom's system requirements as you have to be running 2003 for it to work on the X5. On my X5 TomTom just "jams" - it is a good as a GPS gets! To allow for easy use in the car I use Akron's nice mounting kit, and a modified Play Station Portable charging cable to keep the X5's battery up.

The X5 only has SD capability for extra memory. The SD slot IS NOT SDIO, which means you cannot use the SD GPS receivers, SD cameras, or SD Wifi cards ( just to name a few).

You will need to utilize the CF slot for items such as these, or use a serial GPS setup for the axim connector.

hi my friend
I expected something like that. Although nobody before told me that. Thank you so much. Dell Axim X5 has also CF card slot. And that GPS receiver (Pretec WHANTO SDIO) can easily convert to CF GPS Receiver. What do you thing ? Is it going to work with ?
By the way what do you mean "use a serial GPS setup for the Axim connector" ? What am i suppose to do ?
Thank you very much for your help.....

I think so.

I have a pharos gps-360 and an igps-360 cf adapter (the guy in the above link) for my X5 and it works very well.

In the past (not sure if you can find any now) there were GPS cables/connectors that plugged into the bottom of the axim, a mouse receiver and the cigarrette lighter adaptor.Obviously not good for mobility, only an in car setup (which is how I started).

I use Global Sat GPS BC-337 which uses the latest SIRF STAR III chip set.

It has very high resolution and accuracy and a fast acqusition time.

It works extremely well with TomTom Navigator 5
