TT6 Route Planning?

Just installed TT6 on my Axim X51V and am seeking advice/help as to how best to pre-plan a trip or route from A to B but selecting a specific set of highways which differ from those selected by TT. For example, on a route south which takes me through Seattle via Interstate 5, I wish to bypass Seattle by taking 405 then 167/512 back to Interstate 5--how do I get the program to set up this route? Thanks in advance.

One of the ways to do that is,

Set the final destination,

then go to advanced planning and add a waypoint, if you select an address or point on the map on the other road it will then take you that way instead.

An exaggerated example would be,

LA to NY, TT wants you to go Via Tulsa because it is the shortest route, but you want to visit friends in Omaha.
So, set the destination as NY then add a waypoint for Omaha and it will work out the best route to do that and will ignore Tulsa.

I hope that makes sense.
