Garmin protects their software so it only works with their maps. Any discussion on how to get around that is not allowed on this site.
You CAN download the latest WM Garmin software free from their support site - just no maps.

You can use the CF-QUE product (a few years old now) with free maps from the internet:

GPS Maps I used this on my last cruise.

Read the GPS forum at this site to find out how to use the GPSproxy software you need with CF-QUE.

Did you try garmin.com? I attached the link for the software with the cost

Note that the software only is called garmin xt.
The software with the receiver, bundle is called garmin Mobile 10.

If you go to buygpsnow.com, I believe you can get the bundle for $119. garmin sells the bundle for $199.99

Yeah, I notice that prices on the Garmin website are often significantly higher than on online retailers like Amazon and such. I wonder why they do it like that? You would think that they would want people shopping at their site but I guess even they can't compete with these massive retailers when it comes to selling their own product so why even try.
