Trying to change serial port setting

Hi,
I'm trying to change the port settings on my x50v. I'm trying to run National Geographic topo on my Axiom, and I cannot get it this program to see my Navteq BT-309. I have no problem getting the dell GPS product to see the Navteq, and I even tried removing dells program to see if there was a conflict there, but I didn't get a resolve.
The default is 8 in 7 out on the port settings, and Nat Geo recommends port 1 out.

Thanks in advance

Mayne

First - Welcome to Mobilitysite. Lots of good ppl and info here.

Second, while I can't help you with this specific problem, I suggest going to the GPS forum (http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/gps-talk/) and read thru the stickys and/or do a search. :)

Thread moved to GPS Forum.

You might look at GPSGate. It will make the data available on any COM port you desire. However, the simpler solution would be to see if Nat Geo can change ports to something other than COM1. Most software has that ability.

Hi and thank you for the help. figured out what the issue was, and I should have known. I removed the Dell Navteq gps software, and poof... Nat Geo works famously. I guess I need two gps for two aplications. Thank you again.

Glad to hear that's working now, but......Like JakeRich said, you may be able to get Nat Geo to use a different port. :)

No go there. I tried to get Nat Geo to use other ports, and they even suggest using port 1, but no dice.

Thank you though

That's definitely going to be a pain everytime you want to use one or the other program. :(
