hmmm if only there was some sort of way of looking back at posts that people had written discussing those bits of sofware... Maybe a search feature. No that could never work.

As 2 of those 91 views, I couldn't give you a reply that would help. Due to geographical and hardware differences. However seeing as it would make you happy just to have a reply then have this one, fresh from the oven and with no extra charge....

But enough of that sillyness..... back

Danester, my preferred gps software is Tomtom 6. I used to have it on my pocket pc, but 2 weeks ago I bought a standalone unit at TigerDirect.com. It is the Tomtom one version 3 or something like that. it cost $130 shipped and is far faster than the pocket pc version.

danester, a few comments for you. First, welcome back. Lots of changes since the X5 early days. Now, for your poll:

1. You posted your poll into the wrong forum.
2. You didn't do any search, or you would have found the GPS Forum, which has a ton of posts with opinions on current software.
3. Your poll left off a lot of software options and included one that has been out of business for over a year.

Personally, the choice of "best" GPS depends on what you want to do, so most people won't bother even trying. Do you want road directions? Voice? Street names or just turn instructions? Off-roading? Terrain? Geocache? Interface?

If you liked the way iGuidance worked, you could get the latest, but the maps may be slightly older. If you didn't like it, figure out why and look for a package that addresses those pain points.

There is no "best," there is only "best for me" and only you can make that decision.
