I think Google Maps is pretty much useless for navigation unless you have a continuous data connection.

Well I D/L ed windows live or MSN live and I had my WIFI on but when I said to get my current GPS point or whatever (I had the forthright thinking to put it on port 7) I sat ther about 2 minutes and nothing happened, how long should it usually take to load up?

I saw in another thread that you said to look at the photo thing, I did that and it took me like 3 minutes to pick up 2 satellites, I did that quick GPS connect update or whatever (not exactly sure what that is either, but apparently my GPS is running very slow

It takes GPS a few minutes when you first use it to get a fix on the satellites, but if you use it regularly, it won't take so long and having it get a satellite fix in the camera mode doesn't mean it won't take a few minutes to find a fix in different software applications.

When getting a first satellite fix make sure your device has a clear view of the sky....taking it outside might speed things up abit. After that, my device finds satellites inside without much trouble.

Your device can find a fix with or without using the the Quick GPS app. The difference is that using Quick GPS downloads satellite information to the device that speeds up the process to get a new fix. But I found the Quick GPS on my hw6925 got messed up from time to time, so, to me it was more trouble than it was worth. I don't use Quick GPS at all and don't really notice that it takes that much longer to get a satellite fix.

You might find the article I wrote about Basic GPS helpful....

Does Iguidance put out updates for when new roads open up, or is it a once a year update type of thing? I was looking at that and really like it, what about nearby restaurants and stuff..

going on a trip up to tennessee today, and my 4gb card hasn't arrived yet :(.

The whole msn live thing all makes sense to me now though, you have to have a data plan so it can keep updating itself, I thought you could store the whole trip on there

You don't get regular map updates, but I don't know of any GPS applications that do that. Updates are spread out a year or soand then registered users must purchase them - maybe a discount is provided.
