x51v & BT-309 (looking for configuration information)

Hi all,

I am trying to figure out how to properly setup my x51v (WM6) with my BT-309 GPS. I don't have any documentation but have managed to figure out that the passkey is 2203, the COM port is 7 and the baud rate is 57600.

I had the GPS working after waiting 15 minutes (without moving it) for it to find the satellites but after driving for 5 minutes the signal got lost and I can't seem to get it back.

Although the BT-309 pairs properly, do I require any extra software/driver for this GPS? I'm using iGo 8 for navigation.

I'm hoping to find the following information:

What exact settings to use in the "External GPS" area
What exact settings to use in the "Bluetooth" area (should I set the outgoing port to 7 or 8?)
A manual
A driver or diagnostics software
Someone to tell me if this GPS is no good and possibly suggest another model

Thanks so much!
Ryan

Try this:

Start the GPS, and start BT on the AX. On the BT Manager screen add a new device, let it find the GPS and set it up. Disable GPS management on the Ax.

Now start OCN8, let it autodetect the GPS. That should work. It does on my X51v with lenny's WM6, L11.

Thanks for your reply.

I unselected the box that said "Manage GPS automatically (recommended) in the "External GPS" area. Is that what you meant when you said "disable GPS management"? Id send screenshots but I don't that software installed at the moment.

iGo wouldn't detect the GPS receiver unless I added an "Outgoing Port" in the Bluetooth menu. I chose port 7 (and unselected "secure connection"). Is this right? After that it detected the receiver but I still am having a hard time getting connected to the satellites.

Thanks again,
Ryan
