There are a couple of possible oddities with your post.
Are you sure you have WM5 A12?
A12 usually fixes the problem I'm thinking of but it may help.
Try the Fake server trick found in this thread.
If the Axim is losing the Card when it goes to sleep then you would have this problem.
Also you say SDHC cards, but WM5 A12 doesn't normally work with SDHC unless you have added the SDHC driver, which will allow you to use up to 4gig.
No, no program is trying to connect to the internet.
GPS program and data are both on SD card. I tried to install program in the device and left data on SD card, same thing.
I even tried to install program on CF card, same result. Weird.
I have the same problem. I'm running wm6.1 and Tom Tom 7 would crash every time I would turn the Axim off for a long period of time. Sometimes if it's quick, it would recover, but after maybe 10 minutes, it would not wake up at all and I would have to soft reset. I thought it was a bug in TT7 so I uninstalled it and put on TT 6 and it's a little better, but it crashed completely again yesterday while it was off for more than 10 minutes (that's a rough estimate). I never had that problem when I was running wm2003se.
Which GPS receiver are you using? I assume it's BT? If so, it might be an issue of BT not connecting and causing the GPS program to crash. Just a thought.

Thanks.
Yes, I have already applied the fake server trick and installed SDHC driver.

My GPS is a CF card and the program (iGuidance) is an SD card. There are times when I turn it on the program will start and then lock up after a few minutes. I do a soft reset and it works fine. When I checked with the GPS program company they said it might be the amount of memory available. I haven't been able to pin mine down 'cause I don't use the GPS a lot. But, you might want to do a memory cleanup and see if that helps. Just a thought.
