Thoughts on Globalsat BT-359

Hi everyone,

Looking at past posts it seems like some people have the Globalsat BT-359. I am looking at different GPS receivers to work with the x51v. What do you think of the BT-359? How is it at getting a signal? How is the battery? Any other issues with it?

I may use if with TomTom software if it makes a difference.

Thanks.

I am using the Globalsat BT-332 and not the Globalsat BT-359 but if they
are similar I would have to say it works just fine, locks on fast. The gps app
of course must have the ability to utilize the BT stream from the receiver.

I have a BT-359, that has worked flawlessly over the years, with my X50v running WM2003, my X51v running WM6.1 (Lenny's L11), and also with my Sony Ericsson Z610i phone. It locks on satellites quickly, and will run about 10-11 hours between charges.

I have used it on the X50v and X51v with IGuidance 3.0. And, now use in on the X51v with OnCourse Navigator 8.0. I also use GPSGate with it to make it so that I can also update my GPS location on their website realtime.

Rob, What type of dock/charger set-up do you use in your car?

I just purchased the BT-359 and would like to know a dock/charger/whatever to use with it in the car. Are there dock chargers designes so you can both charge and use the device when it isn't in the dock? The X51V's volume isn't that loud. Do some have speakers?

I've been looking at the CM 720 from Arkon. Any thoughts?

Back when I bought it in 2006, I also purchased a
GPX06 1 32.99 GPS_Cable = BT
i.Trek Powered GPS Ready - GPS Charging Cable Cradle Mount for Dell
with the option of a RJ-11 to mini-USB for (+3.00)

I just looked and where I bought it (Semsons.com) doesn't carry it. It powers the Axim, and also has a mini-usb out that powers the GPS unit.

I did find it here, but don't see where you can order it:
Cradle Mounts
It is the GPX06 model. You could contact them and see if they have any.

I've found that the X51v is plenty loud enough for directions when I have the windows up. I've never used the CM720, can't really comment.

Depend on what model ,

If you get Bt-359W , it will work

I bought mine at Bedox Inc,

Love it, they even offer free air vent mount with the purchase,

anyway, the device looks luxury externally
and it does have many features internally as well.
