Issue with Axim staying connected to a GPS receiver

Ok, so I'll start from the begining...

I have an Axim x51v, under the battery it says was on A03.

I connected the BT GPS reciever, it pairs, but doesn't seem to want to connect.

So I do some reading and figure I need to update. So I go to flash it to A12, turns out I actually had A12.001. I flashed it anyhow..

Still doesn't want to connect to the GPS.. ok fine, so for the fun of it I try the OCN8.3... it doesn't run, well kinda.. starts to run, and then I got a memory error...

Sooo I flashed it to LennySh Edition L11.. worked like a charm... I love the temp gauge on the battery.

I can run the OCN8.3 now no probs.. it's actually pretty quick too..

I can pair the GPS, but it doesn't want to connect still..

It's a mavin from gpsnow..

I tried the com setting from the mobility site.. no difference.

Any ideas?

Thanks

What are your settings under Start/Setting/System/Gps?

What haven't they been..

I've tried leaving them at none, none, checked.
1, 7(to match the outgoing port), checked
7, 8, checked
none, none, unchecked

I've tried creating incoming ports on wm5 with the original rom I had, other roms didn't seem to have that choice... I've tried switching the outgoing to 8 and do all the other settings above.

I tried what buygpsnow says on their website:
Quote:
For Smartphone:

Start/Settings/Connections/Bluetooth.
Make sure Bluetooth is set to "On".
Menu/Devices
Menu/New
Select your GPS device from the list and press Next.
Enter the passkey for the Bluetooth GPS. For example, 12345678.
Next
You should get a message box saying "Your Smartphone has connected".
OK
Next
Check the "Serial port" checkbox.
Done
Done
Menu/COM Ports
Select your GPS.
Menu/New Outgoing Port.
Select your device and press Select.
You will see a COM port that has been chosen for your GPS. For example, COM6.
Done
Done
Done
Now your GPS is set up on COM6. Start your GPS app and configure it to use COM6.
Buddy at work has a known good gps receiver in his office, he tried to sell it to me.... it's almost tempting to go snag it an see.. maybe this mavin is the problem...(I mean could be a one off thing)

Before I tried any of this I had my motorola phone pairs to use as a modem, and hte blue tooth keyboard and they all worked fine, without any problems reconnected, etc, etc...

Interesting.. I tried re-pairing but I removed the gps, did a soft reset, paired it, but the ocn software decided to stop working.. saying I need the proper SD card in there. I'm restoring from a backup right now.

So I tested some other software wififofu2 or something, a wifi finder with GPS logging of hot spots once I set it to the hardware port of 7, it connected and worked... so it just figuring out the OCN software me thinks..
