axim x5 with dell laptop want gps

ok I have a dell axim x5 - ao5 got it for a steal but ok and have a new laptop
hp windows vista basic, have gps system form over seas (steal again) $26 cannot beat this stuff. it is good,pics,videos,e-book,nav,music,etc.
running igo8 2009 maps. can i run this igo on my ax (cf)and my laptop(pcmcia). I know i need a receiver that will run on both. nav is on sd card (2gb) and runs well, have been able to make backup to new (4gb) card and run in unit plus add music, video,pics, (4.3 screen) lookin at the 7 now (for about 170). if i put the card in the ax activate the prog it will start for a sec i will see the logo screen and gone. in the laptop comes up as invaled win32 prog. with no antenna. I have read back max mem for ax5 is 1 gb is that still true? which could still be a part of my problem. any help is appreciated any steer in the right direction thanks.

The x5 only supports 1gb cards. Anything larger than 1gb will seem to work fine, but the x5 can only read the first gb of it. Also, the x5's os is probably too old to run the latest version of igo. It looks like they are wm5+, and no the x5 cannot be upgraded to that, only to wm2003. Unless you have an older version of igo, you may be out of luck.

So basically you want a GPS software that will run on both your axim and your desktop and be able to stay synchronized. Windows mobile programs will not run under windows, but there is probably a company out there who has versions for both windows and windows mobile that can sync, if this is what you want. I dont know a whole lot about this, so maybe somebody else can suggest a software that has this.

Also, i belive that cf capacity is higher on the x5, so you may be able to transfer all of the stuff from the igo sd card to a regular cf card and it should run, granted the program itself is compatible.
