VITO SmartMap

Whoever sent me the PM about VITO Smartmap. I deleted the PM by mistake. Can you either resend it or email me the question at cjames at aximsite.com?

Google for Fugawi. It has the ability to use scanned maps.

Checked out the site, thanks, however i was hoping i could find an app that didnt cost 150 bucks canadian. I looked at smart map from vito tech and Garmap CE but couldnt get them going. they are both free. have you or anyone had success in scanning in your own maps into these apps?

Have you tried Vito Smartmap? If so which version, the free or the paid?

Try OziExplorer (www.oziexplorer.com). It has a shareware version. It's much more powerful than VITO.

Yes, the problem i had with Smart map was that i couldnt get a .vtm map made. It came back with jpeg too large. i cut the resolution back to 1024 and it worked. Now i have to try and connect the gps to the serial for nmea. Looking forward to seeing this going.

Worked great. On smart map you bring in a jpeg as a layer for the map and attach 3 known lat and longs with the "snap command". For the snowmobile trip i put the axim and the gps side by side in the tank bag so i could view the scanned in trail map while sledding. The interface cable was a breeze as well. didnt have to do any transistor or battery circuits or hacking of the axim serial cable. the interface cable consisted of:
-Dell serial cable
-Garmin serial cable (ive got a donation site for the garmin connector if any one needs..)
-a short 2 wire male-male db9 adaptor cable with pin 5-5 and pin 2-3.
As all i use the gps for is nmea this works fine.
Cheers
