Most TOMTOM GPS problems fixed this way.
Alright here goes what has fixed most of my problems using GPS software and my CF GPS...
First off you need your manufacturers GPS Software, I use Holux one...
Second the biggest problem I usually have had with software is that the dang thing just take WAAAAY to long to get a fix while the GPS part of the software says it has a good amont of satelites in view, yet there is no fix... well here is the reason. Some software like TOMTOM likes to do a cold reset on the GPS, that is where my extremly long lock times were coming from. Everytime there was a "GPS data unreliable" I kept telling it NOT to use the last GPS data and it did a Cold Reset to the GPS.
So what to do? turn all apps of, go to your GPS software and it should offer you a cold reset option so you get to start from fresh... then you wait, and you wait for a long time until your GPS system configures itself...
BUT YOU DONT MOVE AN INCH(well maybe an inch) until the proccess is done. What you are doing here is fixing the signal for it to be as accurate as possible since you are not moving in your car and getting a fix at the same time.
Then you close your GPS app and the correct data stays saved to your GPS.
Now when you are in TOMTOM(or any other software that gives you this option) and it says the GPS data is unreliable,(probably will ALL the time if you try to set a destination before you get a lock) now you tell it to ALWAYS use last GPS position. If you dont get this option in TOMTOM you need to go to the advanced settings and reset the "warning messages" to get the option again when you get a "GPS Data is unreliable" message. Telling it to NOT use the last position means TOMTOM will perform a Cold Reset on your GPS causing MAJOR time to get a satellite lock.
Hope this helps everyone who has a problem with TOMTOM or any other software like this. It sure help me and I was about to throw the damn thing out the window.
