Now that i have a gps is there some type of cheap program that i can map out an 80acre plot and put pushpins or something to reference fence lines places that have electrical lines and water lines buried? How about getting an accurate lenght and width by using gps? thanks

Gps has an inherent error of 15-25 feet. Placement of fences, lines, etc, would be hit or miss. Of course, if you located them dozens of times (over a period of time) the average location could be better than a single observation.

As for a program, cheap or not, I don't know of any.

there are a few programs that you can use for this sort of thing... gpspassion.com has some discussions of these things in their off road software forum, gps tuner and vito navigator and vito smartmap can use jpg images or something similar and then some calibration such as pinpointing known points or walking over to a known point, after that, you can make annotations to the maps in a similar fashion...
