SD Card Speed for GPS.

I am thinking of using the 256 Mb Panasonic SD card to hold maps for TomTom Navigator 2 on the Axim X5. This new card shows a transfer speed of 10Mb/s, compared to the usual, until now, 2 Mb/s.

I know Panasonic Sd's are effective with the Axim, but I am wondering if the 10Mb/s will overwhelm the Axim, or does the Axim simply make use of the speed it needs from the card, regardless of the card's capability.

Should br glad of some guidance from some experienced heads.

Cheers,

WR.

The Axim will set the speed.

Thanks, Jake.

Would the navigation operation benefit at all from having the faster SD card, i.e. would the X5 make use of the availability of speeds greater than 2Mb/s?

Cheers,

Hello Claude,

What speed is the Sandisk? Is it more than 2 Mb/sec? If so, have you any feel for whether the navigation prog. works faster than with the ordinary 2 Mb/sec.?

Cheers.

I think the question is will the X5 take advantage of the 10 Mb/sec of the Panasonic card when loading maps.

Anyone have an answer?

Yes, still the question. Although I understand from our local Pnasonic shop, that the 10Mb/s card was brought out specifically for operation with some of their own equipment - video cams, etc.
