car mount with speaker
I have an Axim with a pharos gps, I just ordered a dash mount, they also have windsheild mount, with a speaker so that you can hear voice prompts. It is on sale from 69.95 to 49.95, in the special fields you must list the 49.95 price. Arkon.com:D

Did you get the PHAROS iGPS-180? Did you get it to work?
Did you get the PHAROS iGPS-180? Did you get it to work?
I have an iGPS180 with the Ostia 2003 PPC software that came with it, and the Dell adapter from PHAROS - CA018.
I cannot get this setup to work!!
According to the techs at PHAROSGPS, this should work... they just came out with that cable (CA018) adapter for the iGPS-180 unit. I can't get it to work, has anyone out there gotten this setup to work for them?
Thanks,

gps
I have the pharos that fits into the cf slot, I had trouble at first, which I thought was the sd card(sandisk ) but I got it to work. Used it last p.m. and it worked great, got the voice prompts and all. I did not get the most direct route but it was close.

Got it directly from Pharos
I bought it directly from pharos.
I finally figured out what was wrong. They shipped me a defective cable.... They are shipping me a new one tomorrow.
Thanks,
Chris

My car mount should be here tomorrow! It has taken about two weeks from start to finish. I thought the shipping would take less time. than this. Arkon was nice about it though.

Violin...did your mount with the speaker work with the Pharos CF GPS card? I also have that set up but the GPS blocks the headphone jack slightly and don't think that the plug for the speaker will fit in there. I would like to hear if your situation works out... I contacted Pharos and Arkon about this and was basically told that to make it fit the speaker jack would need to be "shaved down a bit" to make it fit under the GPS card. They said they have had Dell customers do that and it worked fine but have my doubts.
By the way, I can hear the voice prompts with no problem..how bout yourself?

Hey, I got my mount in today, I too called Arkon they said to shave it or I could send it back. I said what happens if I shave it and it still does not work, they said send it back and they would give me my money back. I am trying to shave it with a dremel as we speak. ( well not exactly):p

I have shaved the headphone just about to the wire and I still cannot get it to fit with out forcing, I am going to look around to see if I can come up with some sort of adapter that has a smaller jack or see if I can make something. I still need a holder and and need a charger so for now I will probably use it as is until I can come up with a solution. Let me know if you come up with anything.:rolling:

Sorry to hear you have had no luck...hope you figure something out. Although it would be nice, as I said...I have had no problems hearing the voice prompts at half-sound. I know it would be nice to have but definitely not a must have. I may end up just getting a basic mount with a car adapter and an external adapter (one of those package deal things from Pharos).
How have you done with the mapping so far? I seem to like them. The satellites have picked up my position easily and clearly and the routing has been a breeze. The one thing lacking a bit is Point of Interests but they are supposed to have that updated by summer.

Hey Violin...just wanted to see how your setup worked this weekend? Did you have any luck in downtown Atlanta? How about the Arkon powered mount with the speaker...were you able to adjust the headphone jack so it would fit?

Hey used the Arkon mount this weekend w\ the Pharos, I did not lose the signal at all, lots of buildings etc. no problem. The headphone jack did not fit, I went to a couple of electronics stores to find a shorter jack but they(sales persons) said that it is a standard part so I will probably not be able to find one that is shorter. I am going to use the mount with out the speaker for the gps I just turn the volume up on the Axim,(I have a deisel car) and I am not having any trouble hearing voice prompts. The Pharos people said that I could send the mount back even with the shaved jack but I am too lazy to wait for another. I actually like how it is working in the car and I have the dash mount so that it does not block the view of the road. Atlanta traffic is a little crazy! Let me know if you find anything to modify the jack. Arkon was really great about the whole thing.
