2D vs 3D maps. Which do you prefer?

I received PMN4 last week and have been experimenting with the 2D and 3D map views. I'm trying to figure out which mode is the most useful. 3D mode seems to let you see further ahead but makes looking at the streets around you more difficult. 2D mode, by contrast, seems to give you better detail of your immediate area (if you are zoomed in) but you can't see as far ahead.

Which mode do you prefer to use? Do you stick primarily to 2D or 3D, or do you tend to switch depending on the situation?

It depends on which software I using. If I’m using Routis or Destinator I use the 2D view. If I’m using TomTom I use the 3D view. All of the software will handle the views slightly differently. I like to 3D view in TomTom the best but I like the voice prompts in Routis the best. I have not tried PMN, so I can not comment on the views.
