I've only had it a day, but so far I'm really liking the new SiRF III chipset in the GlobalSat BT-338 Bluetooth GPS receiver.

Any particular reason why?
I want to buy a Bluetooth receiver -- ive seen many on EBAY which state '16 channels' .. is this good or bad? What does it mean? Anything else I should be aware of?

I can't really make an informed answer... But the SiRF III chipset just came out. The unit I have doesn't care where it is in my car so far. I definately don't have to put it on my dash. It's in a nylon case, sitting wherever I put it (front seat, back seat, floorboard, etc), and it holds the Bluetooth connection (and 10-12 satellites) just fine. It's also 20 channels, not 16.

In my house, with the nearest window being 25 or so feet away, I typically get 8+ satellites locked.

Apparently there's an issue with cold weather and the Bluetooth portion of the unit, but hopefully they'll fix that shortly.
