I think there is a limit on how big a map can be in the cutting process on the PC. I don't recall what that limit is, but you might find it in the documentation or by trying to cut a really big map and seeing what happens.

It is 150MB. It is also not a limit of the program, but instead part of their licensing agreement with NAVTEC. They have a special agreement for the region maps larger than 150MB. It is going to take a heck of a trip to exceed that. The West Coast map which includes Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Utah and Arizona is only 144MB.

It would be cool in a future version if the maps could be loaded on the fly (i.e., you could have a card with all the regions on it, and if you enter an address, it would automatically load the right map to find the address.

Then the size of the maps wouldn't be relevant. Certainly it could be done on the following search basis:

State: which maps have that state in it
load the appropriate map with the state you're looking for.
City: you've got the state, so finding the city wouldn't be a problem.

Seems like a job for a computer, eh?

What would be even cooler is if the eight regions could be put in one. I have all eight on my CF card plus I have to have custom maps for trips I take between regions. That would all be gone including your problem if they were all in one map.
